Another wonderful post and pictures. Thank you. I have my prayer flags flying proudly throughout a tree and house in my front yard in New Jersey. Still more to add, I figure Losar will be an auspicious time to do so

Thank you so much for this post. Beautiful photos too! I've never been to Nepal but would love to go one day.

The prayer flags remind me a lot of a place that brought people together (sadly that place is no more) and there were prayer flags in the garden for a while there. So it's very nostalgic for me..

That was so beautiful to read, well actually I listened ( I have just found this feature!) and then I went looking for photos ... not disappointed- they are amazing! Now I’ve read your words myself, I can ‘hear’ your gentle voice and accent somehow 💗

A very nice article. It wasn't clear that the dog you referred to in the early part of the article had a regular owner and regular care -- matted fur suggests "possibly not." So, if this little fellow wasn't receiving regular attention, was it possible to provide him fresh water every day or a padded sleeping bed? (Animals , like us, do not like lying on hard ground.)

So good to be reintroduced to the prayer flags , what they're all about, and the human importance of Tibetan culture, Nepal region too. Roof of the world. (a people more close to the heavens than any of us, whose entire culture is to pray for compassion for all of us) so amazing. Taken for granted by by modern "developed" society. Thanks for the front row seat to reflections of your experiences, for the introduction to the family that makes masks, their IG account, the flimmakers, and others, and for all the work you've done putting together shows, making music, collaborating w musicians and venues to bring all this to our side of the world. We are lucky to have access to you, an explorer who returns to share treasured knowledge and experiences with us. Thank you. So awesome.

I’m not particularly a world traveler but I’ve been lucky enough to visit some amazing places: Paris, Peru and Machu Picchu, Tikal and Lake Atitlán in Guatemala... But without question the most unforgettable place I’ve been is Nepal. I was lucky enough to have the opportunity to travel there in 2006 and I still remember the indescribable beauty, the huge energy that surrounded me. I was almost always on the verge of tears from the emotion of absolute wonder that often felt too big to be contained in my heart. Thank you for reminding me of the magic of Nepal and it’s people.

I love the prayer flags, they are so joyful! I sting them up in my garden, partly for a decorative boarder, partly for spiritual reasons, and partly to keep the deer out of the flowers and veggies! Our neighbors always remark about how pretty they are. I have a small bronze bell from Nepal (or Tibet) hanging on the gate that rings cheerfully with the wind. I would love to see your video, it sounds magical!

a post that warms on a cold January day and this lesson gleaned partially from your wise friend Bill who does such good work:

"But we also *need* to appreciate and experience what is in front of us - the absolute majesty in front of our eyes, the aliveness of nature, the very thing we are fighting for." thanks
