I read this when you posted this. I re-read it today and I must've been somewhere else when I first read this. I absolutely love this post . Jesse you are an inspiration for me. Thank you for everything you do for our world. Your a wonderful human. ✌️
Hi Jesse! What a wonderful post, as always. Greetings from Concord, it’s been very hot here but I sauntered over to the Concord River near Henry’s house on Main St. on his birthday and blew him a wish. Your concert here at the Umbrella was such a special weekend! I hope you record those songs you shared! I, too, am writing some of these quotes in my journal, especially these which sparked my heart:
Watch for the people whose eyes light up when you talk about your dream. Those are the people you keep.
Live in each season as it passes. Breath the air, drink the drink, taste the fruit and resign yourself to the influence of the earth.
Thank you, Jesse! You are an inspiration and hope to see you again soon.
The wetlands / swamp trail in back is really buggy this time of year - deer/horse flies are out - And besides 🦈 Shark Week Everywhere- on our weather reports- the Green Head fly repirts are coming in - and so just don’t even try to go to an ocean beach for hmmmm2 weeks . Trustees of the Reservation has good info on different seasonal conditions- just not the Dumbosity of Unskilled drivers - one expects that on the T / public transport - have a great cooling test !!
I visited Amherst center of course - after having my / our two offsprings go to UMass - so about 10 years of driving back & forth - I know every Which Way to Get Nowhere FAST and STILL manage to get stuck on route 9 - NoHampton for 45 minutes - no matter what time of year .
My kids no this about me - how much I cannot Tolerate
But Today - I complimented people
It’s my Birthday Week 🥳my side of the family BARTs- all have major lIFE Moment events in July/ August -
I stopped at Magic Wings in Deerfield and purchased 2 cups of Painted Lady caterpillars - 🐛- so that drive in No Ham prob was excruciating/ protesting is fine - but all these Out - of - state young & old drivers do Not understand how to drive in Massachusetts
And zi have 2 cups of Painted Ladies to get home
Maybe that speeded up their lifecycle -
And I found out there is something major wrong with right side of my car/ it had a stroke or something - electrical like Texas -
Such a lovely post. I loved the quotes the best, so many wise words and especially enjoyed the tree one. How amazing are trees , often l sit underneath a favourite tree in my local park and think how much it has seen and heard in its life and what it could teach us. Such a beautiful old Oak. Happy Birthday Henry 🎂 much love from London 🙏
Thank you for sharing your thoughts and words Jesse. As always a comfort , inspiration and delight ! I will read this post again as it needs both time and concentration….which for personal reasons I find sadly lacking at the moment ! Sending you the kindest regards and the warmest of wishes ! 🍃 ☀️
Thoreau was one of my gateway authors to learning about Nature with a sense of joy and awe rather than biology.
This quote strikes well and so true: "Live in each season as it passes. Breath the air, drink the drink, taste the fruit and resign yourself to the influence of the earth."
Ohh, I really love that quote, too - I love what it means and how it sounds to read it and recite it, such a fun rhythm that just energizes you and motivates you right away! Thank you so so much :))
Your messages today are so lovely. And you look so joyful in your photos. Love the quotes from Thoreau. The last one has been a favorite of mine since I read it decades ago: When it comes time to die, let us not discover that we have never lived. Thank you for sharing your special moments with us.

Wonderful post Jesse!
I particularly love the qoute about wealth being the ability to fully experience life.
Thoreau is such a constant beacon of inspiration - his light never dims.
And I have been enthralled with Jane Goodall since I was about 5. I turned 59 on the 12th. She is still my hero.
And I am always happy to share a birthday with the great Henry David Thoreau, he always I inspires me to try to be better human.
I read this qoute on the 12th and it really stuck with me - "What is the use of a house if you haven't got a tolerable planet to put it on?"
Happy belated birthday dear Henry!
PS thank you for all that you do, Jesse.
💚🎂💚
