I didn't do a lot on the first day of summer. I did some of my summer cleaning in the house, ran to the store to get some groceries, and then I joined my parents for a Mexican Dinner for Father's Day. I gave my Dad his card after dinner. Happy Solstice, and thanks for sharing the fireworks.
That was one of my favorite pass times is to see the fireworks, especially when my folks and I lived up in Clear Lake. They had fireworks in Lakeport,, just over the lake at night with the moon.
I think the fireworks are beautiful. In California, we aren't allowed to have fireworks, but many people still use them, especially on the 4th of July. I hope you have a nice summer.
The Summer Solstice is a connecting force for me. I swam in the Mediterranean sea as the sun rose on Sunday morning. I was with you on the beach. I crawled into a tent with a Palestinian family. I blinked with friends in Iceland where the sun didn’t set! I watched over my new grandaughter in Brazil, sent hugs to my daughter and grandsons in Italy and willed a friends organic farm in rural Zambia to flourish.
I swam in the azur sea and was grateful.

I love that your are remembering and reminding of the old holidays and important dates all year round! :-) In the region of the Alpes (where I am lucky to live) the big celebrations are on June 23/24 - the night of "Johanni" (St. John the Baptist). There are huge fires around the mountains (and the youth is boozing ;-) ) I think the Christian missionaires renamed the old summer solistic feast, and maybe Johanni because of the St. Johns wort that you mentioned which is so medically effective during these days. Have a beautiful day! Hope the weather is just as bright as here. :-)
Jesse, so many ways we mark the seasonal changes. But these days seasons have become more unpredictable. Still every day we wake, we get another chance - the proverbial "clean slate".

Summer is my favorite time of year.
A time for swimming, both indoors and out.
A time to get together with each other for outdoor barbeques.
A time to enjoy walks outdoors, next to nature.
I love it when the weather is warmer, but not too hot.
It is a time to stay up later at night, and sleep in later in the mornings.
A time to sit outdoors on the patio, talking to neighbors.
A time to take vacations to visit different paces, or places that you don't normally see every day.
A time for fun, and away from school, and homework.
A time to be creative.
A time for concerts.
A time for outdoor activities
A time to go to the fair
And a time to shop for fall, whether you go to school or work.
