Good morning, everyone!
Today is an exciting day - it’s Preview Day - that time of year again!!
I’m very honored to continue in my role as Founding Ambassador of the ABAA New York International Antiquarian Book Fair, taking place this weekend, April 3-6, at the Park Avenue Armory in NYC.
This year we’ve also expanded the program, adding 8 more ambassadors, individuals keeping alive the tradition of antiquarian collecting and a true appreciation of books.
As a new annual tradition, we’re doing another Giveaway Contest, to share the magical experience of the NY Antiquarian Book Fair with two admirers of antiquarian books and the written word. If you’re in NYC and interested, you can enter the contest on my Instagram post. And if you would like to purchase tickets, the Book Fair has given me a special 20% off discount code for you all.
The code: NYJPS-20OFF
Here is also the Redemption Link that automatically applies the discount at checkout.
**Please note the site will display "does not apply to current selection" until a number of tickets is selected from the dropdown menu.**
For those who are not in NYC, we will also be doing another giveaway contest this week especially for you, so please stay tuned for more on that. :)
The antiquarian world is not held in the past - it reminds us that time is elastic. Through books and collections we can travel to centuries long before and also see exquisite visions of the future. We can befriend writers who died long ago, and imagine those not born yet. In a rare book or manuscript, you can see the handiwork of printers, bookbinders, paper makers, and conservationists, the penmanship of a writer or thinker, the red marks of an editor. A book that may have existed for decades or centuries, has traveled all around the globe, cared for by a vast lineage of individuals and institutions. Repaired, restored, loved, and looked after by someone now and by someone else in the future. Holding a book in your hands, you are holding a little world that bridges generations - an antiquarian book is a collaboration that challenges the measurement of time and geography.
Here is a link to the Financial Times interview my mom and I did in the lead up to the fair, and some photos below from the shoot at James Cummins Bookseller in NYC.

And here below are some of my posts from last year’s book fair, spotlighting memorable moments and the incredible booksellers from NYC, USA, and around the globe, in case you are interested in reading more.
The Hands of Booksellers
As the powerful energy of the solar eclipse engages the world in wonder, I am still held within the magic of the NY Antiquarian Book Fair which took place over this last Thursday-Sunday.
