thank you so much for this post Jesse! The last few weeks have been really frantic for me so I only fully read the post now. I think I am going to try to do the exercise this week, starting tomorrow! I just finished a work post on Friday and have some mental and temporal space now for it finally (it's really exactly the right time for goal setting)!

Good practices, Jesse, that I hope I can make the time to undertake. I've been feeling the need to make some subtle, some signficant changes to my day-to-day life and these exercises seem a good way to start putting these desired changes into practice. So, thank you for this.

I hope the new year has begun well for you and for everyone else in this shared community, and may it be so for all people of good will around the world. For those of less good will, may they be granted the wisdom to see the error of their ways, the humility to recognize their mistakes, and the strength to correct them as far as possible.

Thank you as always!

My perception of the passage of years is different, I don't feel it like a beginning or an end. For me it is a continuation. I don't like making lists of resolutions because I will feel bad if I don't (or I can't) accomplish them. I prefer to think about the immediate and to go on through the path of life. Maybe it is because of being older... Anyway, I wish you a happy and good 2026.

Thank you Jesse! I took your cue and wrote about the year. It was certainly a growth yeyar in so many odd and strange ways. Pain, joy, celebrations, and endings--the gifts of life. The pictures of you and your Mom resonate deeply, especially the one passing under the dock. Happy, healthy, New Year to you!

Happy New Year, Jesse. I'm reading this a day 'late,' so to speak. The first thing I will do is be compassionate with myself for not having read this 'in time' and my disappointment regarding it. Yet, the silver lining is clear to me this first day of the new year. I think to myself how New Years Eve could have had purpose and healing if I had spent my time reflecting instead of numbing. Herein lies perhaps the biggest thing I can do this year: forgive, with reflection -- there it is! -- with insight, flexibility, expansion and openness to life as I move through each day. Thank you for the guidance I needed. Thank you for this community. <3

Happy 2026 Jesse. January 1. I ended the year by walking to a bookstore in Amsterdam, where i live and buying Bread of Angels.

I watched Wuthering Heights, with Tom Hardy as Heathcliff, waiting for the sweet potato in the oven to be ready.

I’m 75, alone but i’m still alive, silvered, solitary with my memories. In solidarity with you and your ma.
