Today is the first new moon of 2025, and also the Lunar New Year, the Year of the Wood Snake.
Yesterday I was having a frustrating morning, lots of little and medium sized hiccups that felt challenging. One of those days where you feel you’re ‘being tested’ for some reason, and that there is some sort of lesson(s) you’re supposed to learn from. My dear friend Laura was helping me very much as she always does, responding to my venting voice memos with wisdom and guidance.
Then I started a new thread in our Chat, sharing my day’s experience with you all, and additionally, your responses helped so much. Hearing about your projects, the days you were having, your goals and missions, your struggles and successes. Hearing about everything in your lives made me feel inspired and connected with community, as it always does. So thank you so very much for that. And please join the Chat if you haven’t already - it’s such a wonderful way to share with each other in a private setting.
So today is the Lunar New Year. Here is an article from Moon Omens about what this means.
It is a time for reflection, rejuvenation, and embarking on a new beginning with a clean slate.
A cycle of renewal and hope.
Long celebrated traditions and rituals take place in homes, such as the all-important ‘sweeping the dust,’ which serves to clear away the misfortunes of the past year.
A spirit of possibility and transformation, a time to cast off the burdens of the past and embrace new possibilities for what lies ahead.
This New Moon invites us to explore unconventional paths that might bring us closer to the truth of who we are.
A lunar cycle focused on envisioning a new reality, breaking free from old patterns, and releasing our attachment to the past. This event encourages us to welcome new possibilities, move toward the unknown and the unfamiliar, and create a reality aligned with our truth.
We have now entered the Year of the Wood Snake. Here are some quotes about what this means:
Known for its ability to shed its skin, the snake signifies transformation and renewal, offering a reminder that growth often involves letting go of the old to manifest the new.
We are encouraged to rely on our insights and instincts, delving into introspection to make transformative decisions.
This is a year to embody the snake’s quiet strength, pursuing our endeavors with determination and agility, finding creative solutions in calm, calculated ways.
Let this year be one where we find strength in subtle transformations, and where calculated steps lead to significant progress.
Great change often starts with small, deliberate actions, reflecting the Snake’s mastery of patient pursuit. May this year bring clarity to our visions and empowerment to our transformations.
Reading this all feels exciting, inspiring, and deeply needed. Do any of these words specifically resonate with you at this time? How will you recognize this Lunar New Year? Will you clear out space, dust, unwanted clutter and debris from your home? From your mind? What do you need to shed?
Let me know your thoughts and reflections, any ideas and what is motivating you forward today. And feel free also to share anything in the private Chat, too.

And thank you to my mama for my New Year talisman, pictured in the banner photo up top. It’s been hibernating in its box behind a picture frame, awaiting today. 🐍
And also to
(also a wood snake!) for my annual New Year card. 🧧Happy Lunar New Year, everyone! Let’s wear red and celebrate. <3
The color red is considered symbolic and auspicious. It stands for prosperity, good luck and vitality. It is also considered to ward off negative energies. Wear red to attract good fortune and start the year on a positive note.

**this message was scheduled to go out at 11:11, but there was a glitch and it was sent out at 11:12. I made a wish though for us all in that moment, and seeing that today will be a great day, something much better than yesterday. <3 Thank you all for everything. :)
Happy Lunar New Year to you too Jesse!
I like this one much better than the traditional one, much less pressure Lol. Came down with a nasty cold but I am/was moving in the right direction and will get back into the rhythm of things once I shake it off, no biggie, part of winter to an extent. Some Chinese chicken noodle soup wouldn't hurt ;o)
Be well & have a great day!
I must admit that when I initially heard that this was the year of the wood snake, I was a little disturbed - having a somewhat irrational fear of snakes:)
However, your quote, "We are encouraged to rely on our insights and instincts, delving into introspection to make transformative decisions, " is definitely something I can live with. Indeed, I have started doing it already today in a small way (I'm just looking into an alternative way to publish my memoir).
Also, I had already donned a red shirt before I read your note, so I am off to a good start.
There are challenging times ahead, I recognise that. We cannot bury our heads ostrich-like in the sand and pretend things are not happening. We can stay informed and stick to our destiny plan, though - undeterred and unmistakable in RED:)
